Retail chains push suppliers to 60-day terms

Working capital is being pushed down the chain, and the smallest suppliers have the least room to absorb it.

Several chains have moved standard supplier terms out to sixty days.

The effect is to push working capital requirements onto suppliers, who are generally smaller and less able to finance it.

Some suppliers have responded by pricing the delay in, which partially defeats the purpose.
